Teva Announces Approval And Launch Of Oxaliplatin Injection For Cancer Treatment

Generic drug maker Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. , Tuesday revealed U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval and launch of Oxaliplatin Injection indicated in the adjuvant treatment of stage III colon cancer.

Teva’s New Drug Application for Oxaliplatin Injection was for adjuvant treatment of stage III colon cancer, cancer in the lower part of the digestive system, in patients who have undergone complete resection of the primary tumor and treatment of advanced colorectal cancer.

In June, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey ruled in Teva’s favor on the issue of non-infringement with regard to Debiopharm’s U.S. Patent which was listed in the Orange Book for Sanofi-Aventis’ Eloxatin -oxaliplatin injection. The drug had annual sales of around $1.3 billion in the United States for the twelve months ended December 31, 2008.
